Maui Amateur Radio Club – July 8, 2015 Minutes – Maui EOC Wailuku, HI
President Tom Worthington called the meeting to order at 7:00 PM. 
 
Meeting minutes and treasurer’s report were approved, and accepted by acclamation.
11 members and guests attended.
 
New Business: Field Day Results
 
Talk Around:
K6GSS-John:  Iperate ARRL VHF contest in June. 60 contacts. CQWWVHF contest coming up. FD was pretty good.
NH6Y-Tom: Hawaii Qso party coming up in late August. Trying to work 6m. CA on JT65.Beacon on Oahu on 6M.
N0DQD-Bob: Great time at FD.
KH6H-Mel:  2 M contact on FD. Exam session Aug 1.  Nation Traffic System, CW  years ago.
KC7ASJ -Dave: No Radio this
KH6PO-Diane:
AD6E-Alan:  FD antennas worked well. 40M Moxon, worked very well. Off air-QRT. Need to get permission from neighborhood.
KH6CJJ-Kent- Wonderful FD. Moring and afternoon HF nets. Set record on 6M, 4 way contact.IARHU contest coming up.
KH6AH-Ron: Afternoon on 17M and 20M. Helped out on FD installation
AH6AH-Anita : Skywarn weather spotter program. A  meterologist will train 3rd weekend in August. Shawn wants all FD pictures.
AH6CU-Joe:   Island wide CERT drill, operators active at CAP, passing ICS messages. Emergency Radio Club – Could we support the non-technical and new ham?
KH6JAY-Jay:
AH6RQ – Joe:
Bill – Helped out on Field Day. Studying for license.
KH6CUJ- Les:

WH6DUE-Devin: Didn’t get to operate on FD, but glad to visit the FD site. Putting up tower. Need to pour some concrete.
WH6DUB-Amanda: Was out for Friday’s setup. Make two contacts.
N6HD-David: Vacationing here. Section Mgr for LAX, National Traffic System messages not being delivered in Hawaii. HR1301- Bill has 80 senators signed into it.
 
This month’s discussion: Field Day results
 
Things went pretty well. Setup and takedown went very smoothly.
Results:3393 contacts
 
Things that went well
Kihei Van was great!
Computers worked better with more RAM
 
Things that didn’t go well
Air Freshener for blockhouse
If we are 3A next year, figure out how to switch between antennas.
Not enough energy to do antenna testing on Friday afternoon.
Need to network computers before FD.
Need to cable all computers. Need 3 ethernet cables .
Waterproof container for router.
Next year we need to spend more time on antennas for 80 and 40.
40M Moxon worked quite well. Most were CW contacts.
Our problem was hearing calls.
Tent poles, red goes to red.
Clamps for the edge of the tent.
Mosquitos were bad this year. Nets?
DELS has good prices for carport covers’
Tom believes we need to replace the main tower
Solar contacts only for GOTA for points. Run on DC, charge via solar
