President Tom Worthington called the meeting to order at 7:00 PM. Meeting minutes and treasurer’s report were approved, and accepted by acclamation. 10 members and guests attended. New Business: Check and thank you letters need to be generated for MEO. Motion to use club callsign for the beacon station. Equipment owned by foundation. TS50, GPS, Cushcraft antenna. Motion passed by acclimation. Talk Around: K6GSS-John: Lots of family visiting. Saw 15 turtles at Hookipa on beach. Looking for VHF contest results. NH6Y-Tom: Had request to paint blockhouse! NoKaOi magazine wanted to know about blockhouse’s history. Not on radio very much. Got on one afternoon, worked 50 people on 17 meters. DX conditions seem poor. QST article on texting mode - FSQ. Mesh like qualities. KH6WO beacon station being moved to NH6Y’s QTH. N0DQD-Bob: Donations by MECO- desktop systems with 19” monitors. Letters of thanks have been written to MECO. KH6H-Mel: Exam session, good turnout, everybody passed. Weather briefings on current storms, not expecting a lot of problems for these two storms. AD6E-Alan:Callsign license plates. Took one year. Lots of bureaucracy. Still trying to get a variance for an antenna at home. Got VEC credentials for exam session. KH6CJJ-Kent:NA CQ contest, Phone Fray- 30 minute contest training activity. KH6AH-Ron: Operating in late afternoon. 17&20 not very good KH6RSB-Shawn: New job, IMUA services, NH7U-Robin: Finished with company. Changing cars, RF power in Mercedes, may void warranty. MFJ rotatable dipole with tuner, got LDG antenna tuner, only tunes half the band. FT3000 problem, may have to tear it apart. Good to be home. Not on air much. Bill: Passed test, waiting for Technician call sign. Passed test. This month’s discussion : Kent - Hawaii QSO Party Get as many people on the air as possible. CQ Serenade – A catchy tune about CW mode. Finnish ham OH2’s web site. Bob – Demonstration of AEA Dr. DX, a CW contest simulator. Kent worked a number of stations with a Bencher paddle, all simulated. Tom- Discussion of Maximum Usable Frequency, propagation modes. Space communications. What can we do to get more people on the air? Shawn- Received materials from ARRL for potential new hams. Flyers and brochure holders. Next month’s Discussion: Hawaii QSO party results, emergency operations from last month’s storms?
