What are we up to?
Updated April 2007
Tentative schedule for the technical talks and activities for 2007 meetings.
February : Jim Andrews, KH6HTV,  gave a detailed presentation on amateur television. Jim not only presented conceptual block diagrams but also video of composite television signals, as well as spectrum displays. If you missed the presentation, a video is available. Thanks for all your help Jim.

March :   Bob Murdoch, KH7FX,  gave a great talk on “How Can a New Amateur Get on the air for the First Time”. This was a chance for the newcomers to ask all those questions about getting on the air. The talk stirred  up a great exchange that included  newcomers and veterans. The question for the March meeting was "What was (or will be) your first piece of amateur equipment?" This question brought back many memorys to the old timers...some good and some not so good

Our annual Field day was a great success. We made our quota for Q'S and had lots of fun doing it! This year we put up the tribander  that we have used for the last couple of years and we added an 80 meter vertical created by Tom, KH7CC. Special thanks to Tom for being in charge of this years event.
Everything pretty much went as planned and a good time was had by all. Some of our new operators got a chance to operate the KH6RS Station as well as some
out of state visitors. Click this link to download a7MB power point presentation :

LATE 2008 and  2009 ACTIVITIES
Our 2009 Field Day was another great success. We put up the tri-bander and put up 40 and 80 meter Verticals created by Tom, KH7CC. Great Fun but not the greatest propagation. We had the opportunity again to give our new operators and some visitors a chance to operate theKH6RS Station. Mahalo to all those who helped this year.

We had several great presentations and discussions during the last part of 2008 and first half of 2009:
Joe, AH6RQ gave a presentation on maximizing intelligibility on SSB communications. Joe is a recording engineer and also does live sound

Tom, KH7CC gave a talk with photos on the Red Cross deployment to Louisiana. Very interesting and eye opening.

We had a great roundtable discussion on our homebrew equipment that we put together over the years. Lots of great memories this night and lots of "oh yea, I remember building  one of those"  comments.

AH6J, ARRL Section manager, gave a talk on the meeting on Hawaii Island.  Sounds like it was a good meeting.

Den, KH6XT, gave a talk on progress being made on a request for antenna height variance requested by a local amateur

We had a left footed CW contest. Your author missed that one, but I hear we have some pretty talented left foot CW operators in our club.

We had a talk on things involved with setting up an HF station. Lots of tips and tricks shared all and a great benefit to our newly licensed members.

Field Day Went well again this year. We had a tribander and 40 and 80 meter vertical. Of course propagation wasn't the best, but a good time was had by all. Hopefully we can come up with some photos for the 2009  field day
